Before you ship your quilt, please read the following check list:

  • If your project must be done by a certain date, please call well in advance to schedule your quilt.
  • Press your quilt top and press all seams flat. We charge $10 if we have to press the top.
  • Clip all the threads on your quilt top. Stray threads will show through on light colored fabrics.
  • Stay stitch ¼ “ around all edges to prevent seams from popping and edges from stretching when pinned to canvas
  • Backing and batting must be 6 to 8 inches larger than the quilt top.
  • Do not use a sheet for backing. Sheets may cause skipped stitches.
  • Press your quilt backing. If your back is pieced, seams should be pressed open and salvage edges should be removed.
  • Mark the top of the quilt and the top of the backing.
  • Square the top, backing, and batting.
  • Do not baste the quilt top/batting/backing together.
  • Please remember uneven piecing, puckers, and wavy borders may not quilt out.
  • Please ship in box large enough to return your finished quilt to you.
  • Complete the quilting order form, print and enclose it with your shipment.
  • A deposit of 50% of the order must be sent with the quilt top. The other half of the payment is due before the quilt is shipped back to you.
  • Personal checks and money orders are accepted.
  • Please insure your package, also “delivery confirmation” is inexpensive and provides a toll free number to call, enabling you to check on the date and time your quilt arrives at Cottage Quilters.
  • Finished quilts will be returned by US Mail and insured for $300, unless otherwise instructed.
